Operating Hours

School Hours & Supervision

Staff supervision of students begins at 8.15 am and concludes at 3.30 pm. It is expected that all students will be at school at least 10 minutes before classes begin so that they can unpack and be ready to start the day. Important messages and reminders are given in the first 5 minutes of the day in classrooms, so students who regularly come to school late miss these sessions and are disadvantaged enormously. Special arrangements will be made concerning authorised school activities that require students' attendance at the school outside these hours.

Bell times and explanations are as follows:

8:40 am – Start of School Day

11:00 am – Start of Lunch

11:45 am – End of Lunch

1:05 pm – Start of Recess

1:35 am – End of Recess

Students who arrive late must report to the Office before proceeding to class. The student will be given a late notice slip which they are required to hand to their class teacher; alternatively, a parent must accompany them to the Office.

Early Departure

Students may not leave the School premises during school hours without signing out through the Office. The student's Parents/guardians must collect their children from the Office.

Absence from School & Extended Leave

Parents/Guardians will be notified of absences if the Office has not received notice of the absence via a text message through the (Compass App). Parents/guardians must notify the Office before the end of the day.

Feeling Unwell

If students feel unwell at school, they must inform their teacher, who will advise the Office. The student will then go to the Front Office will call their parents or guardians. If students feel unwell during recess or lunch, they must go straight to the Front Office for assistance.

Unable to Participate in Sport

A written note of explanation from a parent/guardian or a medical certificate should be given to the Office.

Student Items

Restricted Items at School

Students are not allowed to use mobile devices at school. This includes mobile phones, smart watches, tablets and music players. These items should be switched off at all times and handed into the Office when they arrive at school.

Under no circumstances are students using their mobile phones to contact parents. If they need to contact parents, this must be arranged through the School Office. Likewise, any parent needing to contact their child(ren) between school hours should phone the School Office.

Security of Ownership

All articles of clothing, bags, books, stationery items, calculators and so on must be clearly marked with the current owner's name.

Students should not bring to school more money than is needed for the day and must accept responsibility for its use and whereabouts. If for some exceptional reason, a larger sum than usual is brought and needed for after school, it must be lodged (in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the student's name) at the school office for safekeeping and claimed at the end of the day. School fees should be deposited at the School Office before school.

Lost Property

The Lost Property area is located under the stairs in the 'B' quadrangle and also in each classroom. Please clearly label all items that are brought or worn to school.

School Diary/Planner

Each student is issued with a school Diary/Planner.

  • Each grade will have its own procedure for signing the student diary. The Diary will be checked regularly by classroom teachers.
  • It is used for communication between school and home.
  • It is used for recording homework, assignments and other important school events.
  • If lost, damaged or graffitied, it will be replaced, and a fee of $10.00 will be charged.

Messages, Visitors and Family Circumstances

Messages for Students

If you have a message for your son/daughter, please let the Office know as early as possible.

Change of Address/Family Circumstances

Parents are asked to promptly notify the school of any change of address, phone number, email address or place of employment. Wh n parents arrange for students to stay with relatives or friends while they themselves are away from home for a period of time, the Office must be informed. We need particulars relating to the name, address and phone number of relatives/friends and the duration of the student's stay.

Similarly, any change in family status, such as a separation, must be notified to the school. T s is not only for administrative purposes but also so the school can work for the pastoral welfare of the child(ren).

School Visitors

It is a legal requirement that all visitors to our school premises must sign in at the Front Office.
