Newsletter Term 2 Week 1 (29.4.22)
Dear Parents
We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter break and enjoyed the holidays. It was so nice to see everyone’s happy, smiling faces on Tuesday when school resumed. We are hopeful that this will be a much smoother term after all the disruptions we faced last term.
The Covid rules have changed again which means students do not need isolate at home for seven days if a family member contracts Covid. However, we do ask that if your child has any symptoms that they do not come to school even if they test negative. We ask you to remind your children to continue to be vigilant in washing their hands as we try to keep germs away. We will continue to do this at school.
We had hoped that the library would have been re-carpeted by now but we are still waiting for this to happen. Until this happens the library continues to be out of bounds. Likewise Flying Start is still operating from our hall as are Before & After School Care. This arrangement will continue until their buildings have been fixed.
Some good news to report: we expect the new playground to begin next week! It has been a long time coming due to border closures etc. Our sandpit has been emptied and refilled with clean sand so students will be able to play in it once again.
Mr Kennedy is back at work after enjoying some long service leave last term. Thank you to Mrs Barloggio for the great work she did in filling in for him! She found she had some new found skills, eg filling in potholes, digging drains and using WD40 around the place! Well done!
Next Friday Kindergarten will host Assembly. All are welcome to join us that morning. After Assembly parents might like to visit their children’s classrooms to see what has been happening. Gosh it seems such a long time since we were able to extend that invitation!
Our next School hosted parish Mass is on Sunday 15th May. After Mass there will be a picnic in the school grounds and lots of games and fun things to do. Our choirs will also perform a couple of songs. This is a special occasion and is about building community. We encourage all families to join us for Mass and the picnic afterwards.
Welcome to new student Lennox Scharkosi in Year 6, and to returning students Leon (Year 5) and Ryan (Year 3) Johnston and their families. We hope you all find St Anthony’s to be a warm, caring community.
We are glad to hear that many of our families who were severely impacted by the floods last term are back in their homes and moving forward. We hope that you found our gifts helpful and that they did bring a little joy into your lives. If we missed anybody please reach out to us and let us know.
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students are going to a special show called BEEP at the Tweed Heads Culture and Civic Centre on Tuesday. I am sure they will be very excited to participate in this fun event!
Good luck to those students who will be representing our school at the Zone Cross Country in Murwillumbah next Friday.
We are looking forward to a very productive term ahead. There is a lot happening!
To die for a cause is heroic; to die for peace is greater still; but to live in peace is the greatest hope of all.
God bless
Lynne
