    Principal's Message

    Dear Parents

Congratulations to all our student leaders who received their badges at Mass in the church yesterday. We are so proud of them all, as are their parents. Already they are being proactive in their roles and putting forward proposals for the betterment of our school. I know with this bunch of student leaders that much will be accomplished this year.

We have a number of students who have been trying out for the winter sports teams. Congratulations to the following students who have made it to the next level in their various sports: Lillian White, Jalen Beatty, Jack Day, Angus Williams and Connor Dunnachie for rugby league; Ruby Milligan for netball; Sally Croker and Evie Gibson for soccer; Lillian Corby, Elodie Campbell and Honey Randazzo for hockey; Max Esgate, Tom Mison and Seth Leeson for Rugby Union; and Levi Gallagher and Serge Popov for AFL. Well done to them all and we wish them all the best as they move forward. We certainly have some talented sports people in our school.

Well done to all our students who participated today in Murwillumbah at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival as members of the Tweed Zone team. They showed great sportsmanship and exemplary behavior. Big congratulations to Matilda Mison, Scarlett Mison and Rafael Carroll-Cinque who have made the Lismore Diocesan team to compete later this term at the Polding Carnival. Polding consists of all the Catholic schools in the northern half of the state. We wish these students well.

As much as we love them, dogs are not really welcome at school unless it is part of a program. We have some children who are very fearful of them. Those children though who are fearless often run at an animal causing it to be fearful and react which could ultimately harm the child. A number of parents have expressed concern so I respectfully ask that you refrain from bringing them to school. I will cope with the ones that bark at me through a car window! Thanks for your support in this matter.

Please be mindful of others when using the drop-off and pick-up zone. It is not a parking area. It needs to keep moving. But we all need some patience too particularly of an afternoon when there is a need to assist with seat-belts. I know it is a long queue for a while but it does move quickly once we are into the swing of it. If you do not want to be caught in the queue I suggest you leave it a bit later, say 3.05 or 3.10pm to pick up your child.

I hope most parents were able to meet with their child’s teachers over the past couple of weeks. These meetings help you build a relationship with them and puts everyone on the same page. Teachers want the best outcomes for their students so it is helpful to know what makes them tick. If you missed the opportunity to meet with the teachers this time and you would like a session with them then I encourage you to email them to set up a mutually convenient time to do so.

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. (Anne Frank)

    God bless

    Lynne
