Kingscliff Triathlon Saturday 19 and Sunday November 2022
Dear Parents
This weekend marks the end of the Church’s Liturgical year with the feast of Christ the King. When we think of kings throughout history we tend to think of crowns, palaces, riches, and battles for power to rule over others. But Jesus was a different kind of king. His “throne” was the cross where he gave his life to save us. He ruled with love. He called his followers his friends not his servants. He rose from the dead and lives on in our hearts. We show our loyalty to Him through our commitment to live a genuine Christian life, where there is only one law to follow: to love God with all our hearts and to love others with kindness, compassion and forgiveness.
Next weekend begins the Season of Advent as we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas. Today Year 3 led the assembly sharing their knowledge about Advent with the rest of the school, and telling us about some Advent traditions in other countries.
This week Year 4 embarked on three days of camp at Tyalgum. I believe there were lots of great activities for students to participate in. The teachers tell me it was hard work keeping up with them at times! Thanks to Mrs O’Grady, Ms Sleba and Mr Judd for generously giving their time to ensure the students had such a great experience. Without teachers’ willingness to give up their own time, students would not get to have such a wonderful time with their friends as they bond and grow with each other and build their resilience.
Thank you to all those families who have paid their school fees or who are in the process of doing so. We understand that at times some families experience financial stress. We are happy to work with you and help to alleviate that stress where we can. We ask that you make contact to meet with me to discuss your situation.
Parents, please be aware that the church car-park is not to be used for school drop-offs and pick-ups. Please refrain from wandering though that car-park and use the designated walk-ways where they are available. Thank you for your support with this.
Students who ride bikes to and from school are reminded that if they do not follow the school rules they will not be allowed to bring their bikes to school. The rules are about safety for our students.
We have recently had a number of complaints about student misbehavior on buses. This is most concerning and we respectfully ask that you remind your children that they have an obligation to follow the rules set down which basically are to sit on a seat and remain seated for the duration of the journey, to refrain from eating or throwing things and certainly to keep their hands and feet to themselves – in other words the school rules apply on the bus until children arrive home safely.
Please continue to keep Mr Kennedy and Mrs Pip Brown in your prayers as they deal with some health issues at this time.
Thank you to those parents who have volunteered their time to assist with the Book Fair which is taking place in the school library next week. What a great opportunity to purchase some Christmas gifts! Anthea has generously volunteered to make herself available at lunch times next week if students wish to purchase books. Otherwise please check the timetable for opening hours.
It is in our lives and not our words that our religion must be read.
God bless
Lynne
