Newsletter Term 3 Week 3 (5.8.22)
Dear Parents
This Sunday we have our school Mass at 9.00am. It would be great if you could attend with your children. The Primary students who will be there could assist with the singing of the Hymns. If they could meet me at the back of the Church with the teachers who will be playing the music it would really make the Mass a more memorable occasion.
The past week or two the students have had the opportunity to attend many sporting activities. Last Friday was the Zone Athletics Carnival held at Kingscliff. On Monday of this week we had a group of students attending the AFL carnival at Ormeau. On Tuesday there was a massive Carnival at Arkinstall Park for netball and Thursday was the tennis day at Murwillumbah.
Students have been exposed to a variety of sporting opportunities that years ago would never have been possible. This has put an enormous workload on our sports coordinator Mrs Fiona Croker. She has organised teams, coordinated buses, worked out draws, coaches and uniforms. What an incredible effort. When I was sports coordinator it was far easier and less stressful as there were nowhere near as many sporting opportunities available. I’m sure she doesn't realise I’m writing this about her but I feel she deserves a real pat on the back for a Job well done. Thanks Fiona.
Today we have our Public Speaking Champions attending the Finals at Tweed Heads and I am sure they will perform admirably as they did at our Orators evening.

Saint Mary of The Cross Mackillop
Monday 8th August marks the anniversary of the death of Mary Mackillop and the Feast Day of Australia’s first Saint. Although her death occurred more than a century ago, she continues to inspire men, women, and children. Saint Mary Mackillop was a co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, and was a tireless advocate of education and schools. Saint Mary Mackillop had a vision of a better world for all. With patience, a forgiving heart, and trust in God, she managed to overcome whatever obstacles that came her way.
Dear Parent/Caregiver
The ‘Seasons for Growth’ program offers children who have experienced grief, loss or change in their lives the opportunity to talk to other children, of similar age, in a small group about their similar experiences.
‘Seasons’ was initially launched over 20 years ago and there is evidence indicating the program makes a very positive contribution to the social and emotional wellbeing of thousands of children and young people in Australia and overseas.
With the framework ‘Seasons’ provides, children are encouraged to focus on what they can do to make these changes or losses easier to live with. Each group operates with a trained adult companion, during school hours, on a weekly basis for about ten weeks.
St Anthony’s is very pleased to be able to offer this program again in our school and will commence in week 7. If you feel your child would benefit from ‘Seasons’ please complete the attached return slip.
Yours sincerely
Lynne Pull
