Message from the Principal - Mrs Lynne Pull
Dear Parents
Tomorrow evening, Thursday 5th December, we will be holding a family event which will be showcasing the arts in our school. The Parent Forum has organised a sausage sizzle, popcorn, drinks and sno-cones to sell. The band, choirs and ukelele group will entertain, and interspersed between these we have lots of students performing as part of a talent show. On display throughout the school will be lots of artworks done by students including the sustainability projects for which we received a grant. All classes have been involved in art activities so it will be great to walk around and view all of these. We expect to have things on sale from 5.00pm. Entertainment will commence at 5.30pm in the COLA. We will put chairs and tables in the Cola to facilitate families sitting around eating and watching all that is on show. At the end of the entertainment, we plan on having a disco for about half an hour so the children can enjoy dancing and singing before heading home. We aim to finish around 7.30pm.
This is a FAMILY event. Students are not to be dropped and left at the school unsupervised. They are not to bring soccer balls to kick around. This is banned. Students are reminded not to run on concrete areas. Students are expected to participate by supporting others, eating with families and enjoying the showcase. Please come along and celebrate the arts at St Anthony’s with us. We are proud of what we have achieved and how every child has been involved in some way.
Thank you to those parents who were at my farewell functions last Friday. It was a memorable occasion and I felt so blessed and loved. It was nice to have that day to focus on the end of my career, even though I still have to work for the last couple of weeks! Returning to school this week has confused the younger students as they thought I was gone forever on Friday!
Reports will be sent out next week. I am still reading through them. If any parent wishes to discuss their child’s report with teachers you are welcome to make an appointment to do so before the trm is finished.
On Thursday of next week, 12th December, we will celebrate Year 6 as they finish primary school and head off to high school next year. There will be a whole school Mass at 9.00am. It is an expectation that all families of Year 6 students will be present for this. Morning tea for Year 6 students and their families will follow in the hall. Final assembly for year 6 will be held in the COLA commencing at 1.35pm (straight after recess). This will be followed by the traditional tunnel! This day concludes all requirements for Year 6 students. They will be expected to help out with jobs over the remaining days of the term if they are at school.
Next Friday, 13th December, everyone is invited to The Nativity, which will commence at 12.30pm in the COLA. Recess will follow, so families are welcome to stay and share recess with their children. The final awards assembly for the year will commence straight after recess at 1.35pm. Students may go home with their parents at the conclusion of the assembly.
The final three days of the school year Monday 16th December – Wednesday 18th December, will be spent in next year’s classrooms with next year’s teachers with everyone enjoying some “getting to know you” activities and having some fun.
Thank you to everybody for all the support throughout the year. I will certainly miss everyone as I settle into retirement next year, but St Anthony’s students and families will always hold a special place in my heart.
God bless, Lynne

Something to think and pray about
Preparing for Advent
Just as we are never conscious of air, because God’s presence is always around us, we never notice it. The journey of faith is a gift of a loving God who takes the first step and waits patiently, silently, almost shyly for the human response. Life is a vocation, a call to seek this shy God.
Advent is a time to remind ourselves of the many contradictions at the heart of our faith. This most powerful presence chose to be manifest in powerlessness.
As we prepare to celebrate the moment the Word became flesh our faith needs deepening. Ours is a faith that sincerely accepts the darkness surrounding the search for more light. Consequently, Advent is a time of loving adoration, a true act of supernatural hope and of loving surrender to this shy God.
This shy God reminds us this Advent that life is about relationships, not about things. The greatest joy comes from good relationships –the greatest sorrow and suffering come not from loss of job or property but from broken and betrayed relationships. All relationships of love are rooted in the love this shy God has for all of us.
Excerpted from Let Advent be Advent by Vincent Sherlock
We Remember At This Time…
In the face of unpredictable weather, we are reminded of the vulnerability of those without the comfort of a warm home. As we experience freezing cold temperatures, help us to remember those who are without shelter, those forced to flee their homes, and those who have lost everything in their journey, even their country.
We pray for all those in need: for refugees, the homeless, and anyone facing hardship. May we be open to your guidance, Lord, and recognize the times when we are called to act. Help us to see opportunities to assist those we might never have considered, and grant us the compassion and courage to offer whatever support we can.
May we always be aware of your nudges to make a difference in the lives of others, sharing warmth, kindness, and care where it’s needed most.

St Anthony's Parish - Care Group
Many parents may have noticed from the Parish Bulletin, that the Parish has a Care Group which, among other things seeks to provide meals to any parishoners in need.
This could include times of family sickness, new mums struggling to provide for the family in the early days of returning home, and many other circumstances of genuine need.
Please be aware that the Care Group is very willing to help out if any families find themselves in need of this service.
