Message from the Principal - Lynne Pull

    Dear Parents

What a lovely morning we have had this morning celebrating Mothers’ Day! We hope you enjoyed the bacon and egg rolls and the free coffee! Thank you to Kindergarten for sharing why they love their mums and for their rendition of P!nk’s “Cover me in Sunshine” which everyone joined in with singing. We are sure the Mum’s will cherish their portraits made by their children. We wish all Mums and grandmas and mother figures a wonderful day on Sunday with their families.

Thank you to the Parent Forum for organising the Mothers’ Day raffle which was well supported. And a big thankyou to the student students who were keen each morning to sell tickets in the raffle. It’s great to see them giving service to the school community. Congratulations to Trey Maynard in Year 5 who was the winner of the raffle. I am sure his mum (Lisa) will enjoy the spoils immensely! Thank you also to the Parent Forum for organising the Mothers’ Day stall yesterday and to those who assisted. The gifts

We have been saddened this week to learn of the sudden death of Dave Williams – father to Noah in Kindergarten and Isabelle in Year 1 and toddler Valli. We offer Danielle and the children our heartfelt condolences and prayers at this very difficult time and assure them of our ongoing support in the future.

We ask parents to consider coming to the “Thoughtful Parenting” workshop to be held in the hall from 12.30 – 3.00pm on Wednesday. We look forward to a good roll up as learning together can be so beneficial.

The other big thing we are asking of parents is to complete the Tell Them From Me survey which seeks feedback from everyone in the school community. Please consider affirming the school for the good things we do and make some positive suggestions for ways we could improve. Thank you for your assistance with this.

On Sunday 19th May the Parish Mass will be hosted by the school. It will be a wonderful celebration that morning with a number of students to be baptised during the service. It also commitment weekend for those students who are preparing for the Sacrament of Eucharist (Holy Communion) for the first time. This is a great opportunity for everyone to come together as a worshipping community as by virtue of enrolment in our school we are all members of the Parish of St Anthony’s. We ask all families to consider joining us for Mass on this Sunday. Let us all bring along something to share for morning tea afterwards and enjoy spending some time with each other.

Today is Mrs Shannon Lennon’s last day of teaching as she leaves to prepare for the birth of her baby. We wish Shannon and the family all the very best at this time and look forward to hearing of bub’s safe arrival.

On Wednesday of this week a number of the senior students accompanied Mrs Ballantine and parishioners for Rosary in the Park. We were lucky that the rain stayed away long enough for them to be able to gather for this. Everyone enjoyed this opportunity to pray together.

We know many families are struggling at this time. Please keep them in your prayers.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

May God’s blessings be on us all. HAPPY MOTHERS’ DAY!

    Lynne

    Tell them from me survey

As part of our focus on school effectiveness, St Anthony’s, Kingscliff, will be participating in an online survey for students, staff and families – Tell Them From Me® (TTFM®). The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our teachers, students and their parents think about school life, celebrate what is working well and identify areas that need work. Schools in Australia and around the world use the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve.

Here is a link to the Parent survey:http://tellthemfromme.com/kngp

Please allow 20 mins to complete.

Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary, but we would appreciate as many families as possible giving feedback. The more feedback we are given, the better we are able to understand what we're doing well and what we need to work on to create an even better school.

Thank you for your participation and ongoing support of St Anthony's School.

    First Communion

The Year 4 students have commenced their preparation for the Sacrament of Eucharist. The Commitment Mass for this Sacrament is the weekend of the 18th and 19th of May. The Mass of Sunday, May 19 at 9am will be the best to attend, as the school will be running the ministries and a large number of children will be receiving Baptism during the Mass. All are welcome, all belong.

    Sacrament of Baptism

A very special congratulations to Johnny and his sister, Matilda, who made their Sacrament of Baptism last Sunday at St Anthony’s. Johnny and a larger group of students have been busy preparing for Baptism and will receive at the 9am Mass on Sunday, May 19. A huge thank you to Mrs Reynolds for her guidance and preparation with the children for this important Sacrament.

If you would like for your child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, initiating them to the Catholic faith, and your child has a Catholic, Baptised Parent, please contact Gemma Ballantine gemma.ballantine@lism.catholic.edu.au and we will add your child to the group for Term 3.

    Mother’s Day

Thank you to all of the St Anthony’s families for making our Mother's Day breakfast a great success. There were bacon and egg rolls, free coffee and a beautiful Assembly led by our Kindergarten students.       I hope all mums and mother figures felt loved and appreciated.

Many parents may have noticed from the Parish Bulletin, that the Parish has a Care Group which, among other things seeks to provide meals to any parishoners in need.

This could include times of family sickness, new mums struggling to provide for the family in the early days of returning home, and many other circumstances of genuine need.

Please be aware that the Care Group is very willing to help out if any families find themselves in need of this service.
