Incitare

Incitāre
On Tuesday, March 07, eight Year 6 students from St Anthony’s will be attending Incitāre. Incitāre is a one day retreat experience for Year 6 students from the Diocese to celebrate their faith.
The activities and experiences will allow attendees to build relationships with other students from throughout their region of the diocese and talk about and share their faith journey. Year 10 CSYMA (Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Association) students will help to lead the day and share their own experiences and insights. The retreat will be offered to the remainder of the Year 6 cohort in the upcoming weeks, led by the eight attendees, Mrs Ballantine, Mrs Midson and Mrs Wallis.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Our parish commenced preparations for the Sacrament of Reconciliation this week with a Family Workshop about the origins and significance of this special Sacrament. A big thank you to all of the families who came to learn and prepare with their children. Commitment Masses for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be held over the weekend at St Anthony’s, Kingscliff, and St Ambrose, Pottsville.
Sunday 9am Mass
This Sunday we will celebrate Mass at 9am with the school organising the ministries. If you haven’t been to Church for a while, this Sunday would be a great opportunity to reconnect. Lots of families will be present and there will be Children’s liturgy and Morning Tea afterwards. All are welcome, all belong.
Project Compassion 2023
Last Wednesday the school celebrated Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the start of 40 days of Lent. The forty days pays tribute to the 40 days Jesus spent fasting, praying and avoiding temptation in the desert. During Lent Catholics are also called to pray, fast and give. The major giving initiative in the Catholic Church is Project Compassion through Caritas.
The theme for Project Compassion 2023 is “For all future generations”. Students have large Project Compassion boxes in their classrooms and the youngest child in the school has been given a small Project Compassion Box to take home and fill by doing ‘odd jobs’ around the house and asking people for donations. Project Compassion is intended to promote a sense of philanthropy amongst students and instil in students care and concern for those less fortunate than themselves. Please encourage your child to return their boxes to their class teachers by Wednesday March 29 (Week 9) so our school total can be counted and sent through to Caritas before Easter.

Thank you for your ongoing support
